It is a welcome development for Beaver County as MEPPI has finally started construction of a new manufacturing facility. This is a great step forward, as the company has announced that it will create 200 jobs and continue to contribute to the development of the region.
A Significant Investment in the Future of Beaver County: On a warm and windy afternoon, MEPPI marked the beginning of construction of a new facility at the Turnpike Center development in New Galilee, situated close to Interstates 76 and 376. The facility will be 160,000 square feet in size and will be added to the MEPPI plant in western Pennsylvania. The total cost of the project has been put at $86 million, and this has been coupled with $6.75 million in state economic incentives as part of a strong partnership between the public and private sectors to boost the economy of the region.
The new plant will focus on the manufacturing of switch gears; products that are used in power electronics applications. The facility will include: The new facility will comprise: • 90,000 square feet of circuit breaker manufacturing space, • 50,000 square feet for warehousing and receiving, • And 20,000 square feet of office space with administrative and storage functions.
A power and innovation company with a strong history. MEPPI, the U.S. arm of the large industrial group Mitsubishi Electric, has been part of the energy scene in the Pittsburgh area for almost 40 years. Out of its 1,200 employees, about 800 are currently based across southwestern Pennsylvania, including in Warrendale and Freedom, where the company’s expansion plans include Beaver County. This expansion can be attributed to the company's previous decisions to locate in the area.
The arrival of this contemporary facility is an economic momentum for Beaver County residents and businesses. The generation of 200 new jobs will provide local families with more career options and play a role in enhancing the overall vitality of the county. The plant's construction and operation are also predicted to have a positive impact on the supply chain and logistics, as well as on the local services and infrastructure development.
What This Means for the Pittsburgh Region MEPPI's latest investment is a testimony to the region's competitiveness and its key location for logistics and manufacturing combined with a skilled workforce. In the context of advanced industries, including energy and technology, Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas will continue to attract similar projects, and Beaver County will continue to be an important part of Pennsylvania's energy economy. As Realtors, we are heartened by the kind of growth this region is experiencing. Any homebuyer, investor, or business owner looking at Beaver County will note that such developments are continuing to make the county more appealing a place to live and work.
